It needs to be Windows Live ID like Hotmail or Live, but you can make your Yahoo email address etc. into a Windows Live ID so you dont have to keep remembering new email addys in the future, just one
Use the link below if you want and type in your Yahoo email in the first box to make it into a Live ID (your email wont change but you will be able to sign into any Microsoft website like Xbox.com etc.) or create a new Hotmail or Live email address from scratch choice is yours

On xbox live, do i have to use a hotmail, msn or live email address or is yahoo or btinternet ok?
you can use your yahoo account just disable automatic sign in. it worked fine when i did it
